Publishing in predatory journals or with predatory publishers can jeopardise scientific careers. Researchers should therefore avoid such publishers wherever possible.

On 1 August 2024 the new cost-sharing model for articles in hybrid journals under the DEAL contracts with Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley started at TU Darmstadt. The acceptance date is the decisive factor.

“Community over Commercialization” is the motto of this year's International Open Access Week, that will be held 23-29 October.

The Journal of Computational Literary Studies (JCLS) was included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) in September 2023 and is now verified as a quality-assured open access journal. JCLS is hosted by ULB Darmstadt.

The Open Access Talk “Die Qual der Wahl – wie finde ich ein passendes Open-Access-Journal” will take place online on 23 March 23 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.

As of January 1, 2023 the ULB is participating in the Read & Publish Open Access Initiative of the Company of Biologists.

As of 1 January 2023, members and affiliates of TU Darmstadt will be supported in the publication charges of articles in Open Access journals with a partial reimbursement of up to 1,400 euros.

The new English-language open access journal “ing.grid” is now open for submissions. The main topic of the journal is research data management in engineering according to the FAIR principles.
