The funding is provided within the framework of the “Open Access Publication Costs” programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, DFG). The first period of the new DFG programme will end on 31 December 2025.

The price cap for article fees, which was previously 2,000 euros, has been discontinued. Instead, partial funding is now possible – even if the OA publication costs of the article are higher than 1,400 euros.

The most important funding conditions:

• The corresponding author is a member of the TU Darmstadt or was affiliated when the article was submitted.

• The journal has a quality assurance procedure and is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

• The article will be published under a Creative Commons licence.

TU Darmstadt recommends the CC BY licence in its Open Access Policy (opens in new tab).

Articles from externally funded projects in which funds are available for publications are not eligible, nor are articles in hybrid journals.
