2019/08/02
In cooperation with the Chair of Early Modern History at the Historical Institute of the University of Cologne, the written estate of Jean Guillaume Adolphe Fiacre Honvlez alias “Baron Adolf von Hüpsch” (1730 – 1805) is being completely digitized at the ULB, financed by the Irene-und-Sigurd-Greven Foundation Cologne, and indexed according to current professional and electronically retrievable methods. Hüpsch was a collector, doctor, enlightener and universal scholar of the 18th century known throughout Europe, who bequeathed his encyclopaedic collection to the Landgrave Ludwig X. in 1805 – from 1806 onwards Grand Duke Ludwig I. The collection of valuable historical books it contains is now part of the ULB, the remaining objects are at the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt.
