In the 40th year of Arno Schmidt’s death two departments of the TU Darmstadt, the Department of Arts at Hochschule Darmstadt and the University and State Library commemorate the time the author lived in Darmstadt.

Die Ausstellung rückt den Darmstädter Hochschullehrer und Erbauer der ehemaligen Landeshypothekenbank erstmals umfassend in den Fokus. Paul Meißner (1868–1939) gehört zu jener Generation von Baukünstlern zwischen Späthistorismus und früher Moderne, die es neu zu entdecken gilt.

Alexander von Humboldt – Of Plants and Books

On 14 September will be the 250th anniversary of the famous scientist and traveler Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859). While the TU Botanical Garden shows an exhibition about “Scientists, Collectors and Plant Hunters”, it suggests itself to present the original works by Alexander von Humboldt from the ULB’s collection.
