The Artist Emil Siemeister creates his works from various materials, techniques and genres whereby he always starts from a drawing as his elementary basis.

The resulting graphic style therefore takes centre stage of the exhibition whose general theme is artists' books or better still: pieces of art in disguise of bound books with flexible covers, partly made from uncommon and unreckoned materials like foils or ball pens.

The outer appearance is incidental compared to the drawn figures, shapes and text modules which, as the main medium of the book art, unfold their own aesthetic dynamics.

The ULB was successful in buying three books in the last years and is now delighted to realize an exhibition of such an extraordinary and versatile artist.

Exhibition opening

The ULB cordial invites to the exhibition opening on Monday, 13 May, at 6pm in the library lecture room at ULB Stadtmitte. Prof. Dr. Wulf D. von Lucius will introduce the exhibition in presence of the artist, followed by a screening of the film “Personal Carol” by Emil Siemeister.
