In its exhibition areas, the ULB presents unusual perspectives on the various topics in its media collection for a broad audience. Changing presentations provide exciting insights into historical collections, research areas of TU Darmstadt or contemporary artist book. Bibliophilic topics are developed in-house or with external partners.

Exhibition on the life and work of Gernot Böhme

Exhibition from 20 November 2025 to 16 January 2026 | House of History Darmstadt

On 19 November 2025, the exhibition will open at 6 p.m. with the book presentation “Philosophie als Kritik und Lebenspraxis”. The exhibition highlights important aspects of Gernot Böhme's philosophical thinking and research and presents previously unknown evidence from his life. These are part of Gernot Böhme's scientific and private estate, which is kept in the Historical Archive of the TU Darmstadt.

Large-scale photographs of deserted interiors characterise many of Candida Höfer's works. We are accompanying the exhibition “Candida Höfer: Photographs”, which can be seen in the Hessischen Landesmuseum Darmstadt from May 2025, with a selection of books and images.

Exhibition areas ULB Stadtmitte

The exhibition areas in the basement (UG) and ground floor (EG) of the ULB offer various presentation options. The basement is intended for exhibitions with special requirements in terms of climatic conditions and security. Flexible concepts beyond classic exhibits can be found on the ground floor. Exhibitions of Historical Archive of TU Darmstadt

The exhibitions of the Historical Archive of TU Darmstadt show the diversity of life at, with and in the Technical University – the student movement in the 1950s, well-known TU professors such as Meißner, Pützer, Wickop or Weyprecht, partnerships with foreign universities or stories about the August Euler Airfield.
