Exhibition „Paths of Life“

2019/03/15

People from Poland have significantly contributed to Germany’s past and they still shape Germany’s present. But the second largest group of emigrants in the country is also the most unknown. The exhibition “Paths of Life” traces biographies of people who found their way into the Rhein-Main-area.

The biographies span from Jakub Frank, the “Polish Duke” from Offenbach, and Ezary Tobolik, football player of Eintracht Frankfurt, to the Grand Ducal mistress Alexandrine von Hutten-Czapska. They cover successful artists and former famous students of the TU Darmstadt – like Joseph Fränkel. Selected objects complement the exhibition and seek answers to the question if the “invisible” way of integrating Polish people perhaps was a particularly successful one.
