This includes acquiring printed literature (books and journals) as well as licensing and clarifying rights issues for electronic media (e-books, e-journals, databases).

The department's responsibilities include all forms of acquisition, such as purchases, subscriptions, exchanges, gifts and legal deposits. From selection of the literature to procurement, inventory and indexing in the ULB catalogues and verification systems, all the way to invoice processing – all acquisition and indexing processes are implemented in the Inventory Development and Indexing department.
