Flora Graeca Digitalis

Project description

Flora Graeca, a ten-volume masterpiece from the late 18th century, contains just under 1,000 hand-coloured botanical illustrations. It has has been painstakingly digitised and linked to other content from the Linked Open Data Cloud. The results of several LOEWE-funded projects, including some with the Städel Museum Frankfurt and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, which focus on the mediation of art and culture in the digital space, were also incorporated.

Flora Graeca Digitalis is perfect for a relaxed visit: almost like on a real visit to a library or museum, it allows the viewer to browse through a digital collection, discovering its delights and being inspired. In addition to its appealing design, Flora Graeca Digitalis is also intuitive and playful to use, especially on mobile devices such as tablets.
