The Historical Archive is the public archive of TU Darmstadt. In accordance with the Hesse Archives Act (HArchivG), its tasks include taking on the archive material of TU Darmstadt, and storing, developing and making it available for the long term.

Personal use of the archive collections

The archive is only to be used on the archive premises and by . Archive documents cannot be sent or borrowed.

Based on the Hesse Archives Act, documents may be used for scientific and private research purposes, among other things. Unless there are other rules for the use of the archives, the corresponding user regulations for the Hesse state archives are to be observed.

Arcinsys – Archival information system Hessen

Arcinsys the archive information system of the Hesse State Archives and other Hesse archives covers the archives' range of services and tasks.

Please note that there is a protection period for archive material. Only after this period is the archive material available to the public and can be viewed. In Arcinsys, reference is made to an existing protection period where applicable.

TUdigit – The Digital Collections of ULB Darmstadt

In TUdigit, teaching materials from the TU Darmstadt as well as directories from the university are made available digitally.

Students and school pupils can complete an internship to gain an insight into every area of activity in a public archive:

  • Evaluation and transfer of documents from central administration and the departments of TU Darmstadt
  • Indexing of documents in the Arcinsys archive information system
  • Processing enquiries from visitors
  • Support for visitors
  • Advising the administration on the subject of records management
  • Production of a catalogue of professors for the Hesse biography
  • Creation of articles on the history of TH/TU Darmstadt for the university's internal journal, hoch3
  • Stack services
  • Refiling documents and removing metal from documents

You are welcome to discuss the duration of the internship with us. There is also the option of arranging flexible working hours.

Basic knowledge of palaeography (19th and 20th centuries) is an advantage but not a requirement. Students will only be employed if the academic regulations of the subject in question allow for a compulsory internship.
