On 19 November 2025, the exhibition will open at 6 p.m. with the book presentation “Philosophie als Kritik und Lebenspraxis”. The exhibition highlights important aspects of Gernot Böhme's philosophical thinking and research and presents previously unknown evidence from his life. These are part of Gernot Böhme's scientific and private estate, which is kept in the Historical Archive of the TU Darmstadt.

The philosopher Gernot Böhme (1937–2022) was Professor of Philosophy at TU Darmstadt from 1977 to 2002 and the founder and long-standing director of the Institute for the Practice of Philosophy (IPPh). Throughout his life, he combined his philosophical work with social engagement.

Exhibition opening

The exhibition will open on 19 November 2025 at 6 p.m. in the lecture hall (Eckhart-G.-Franz-Saal) at the House of History. The co-editor of ‘Philosophie als Kritik und Lebenspraxis’, Prof. Dr. Gregor Schiemann, will present the anthology. Prof. Dr. Kai Buchholz will then introduce the exhibition.
