The Dept. of Mathematics and the University Archive present a selection of hand drawn seminar posters by Prof. Dr. Karl H. Hofmann in the entrance area of ULB Stadtmitte.

Since many years the Dept. of Mathematics is proud of its mathematical colloquium. The department meets for a weekly guest lecture to learn more about current research, to discuss, and to awaken the interest of students. Each lecture is announced by a hand illustrated poster – since 40 years!

For the first time in the winter term in 1983/84 and every week since then the professor of mathematics Karl Heinrich Hofmann designs these posters. They not only serve as adverts but also build a bridge between mathematics and arts.

After the great success of the exhibition during the reopening of the Science Castle on 16 September 2023, a selection of the rich collection which is archived in more than 1000 copies at the TU Archive, can be seen in the entrance area of ULB Stadtmitte.
