How to find a suitable Open Access Journal

2023/03/16

The Open Access Talk “Die Qual der Wahl – wie finde ich ein passendes Open-Access-Journal” will take place online on March 23, 2023 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.

The choice of a topically suitable scientific journal is significant in order to reach the desired readership. The selection process can be challenging, not only because of the growing number of OA journals. The Open Access Talk compiles valuable information, which helps in assessing the significance of a journal. In addition, the B!SON Journal Recommender developed by TIB and SLUB Dresden will be presented. The tool will be used to demonstrate how semantic and bibliometric methods can support the search for OA journals.

The speakers Anita Eppelin (TIB / B!SON project, Vernetzungs- und Kompetenzstelle Open Access Brandenburg) and Jesko Rücknagel (open-access.network project) will address the following questions:

  • What are basic selection and quality criteria that I should consider when choosing an OA journal?
  • How does the B!SON Journal Recommender work?
  • What other options do I have to find suitable journals?

Academics, students and all interested parties are invited to attend. After the half-hour lecture there will be opportunity to discuss questions.
