Further Funding for Consortium NFDI4ING
2025/07/21
, the consortium for the engineering sciences in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), will continue to receive 8.8 million euros in funding from October 2025 until the end of 2028. This was decided by the Joint Science Conference (Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz, GWK) on the recommendation of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG). NFDI4ING
NFDI4ING is working on methods, standards and services to make engineering research data “FAIR”, i.e. findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. A central task is to consolidate the great diversity of engineering research approaches and methods into a limited number of common standards and approaches to research data management. A high proportion of third-party funded projects and the proximity to industry pose particular challenges for engineering research data management.
TU Darmstadt is one of 13 universities and research institutions that are involved in NFDI4ING as applicants. Half of the consortium's office is located at the ULB, which is also working on the topics of semantic metadata and AI-based support for research data management in the 2nd funding period.
