Thomas Mann for its 150th birthday

Thomas Mann would have been 150 years old on 6 June 2025. Known as the author of ‘The Buddenbrooks’, ‘The Magic Mountain’ and many other novels. Rather unknown for his radio programme ‘Deutsche Hörer!’ on the BBC or his political works.
Thomas Mann took a stand on the developments in Germany early on, appealing to reason and against blind obedience. As early as 1930, he spoke in Berlin: "Der Nationalismus will das Fanatische mit dem Würdigen vereinigen; aber die Würde eines Volkes wie des unsrigen kann nicht die der Einfalt, kann nur die Würde des Wissens und des Geistes sein und die weist den Veitstanz des Fanatismus von sich.“
