The transdisciplinary project BioDivKultur, the IANUS Peacelab, and the Darmstadt Digital Archive of Natural History (DiNArDa) invite for the hackaton „At Eye Level – for a biodivers and peaceful cohabitation of humans and insects“ from 5 to 7 Mai 2023 at LABspace, Hilpertstr. 31, Darmstadt. Travel and accomodation expenses may be refunded upon request. The event is financed by the Ministry of Education and Research-Science Initiative FEdA for the preservation of biodiversity.

Citizens come together on an artistic and biological basis to work and programme together – at first, out of curiosity for teamwork, or being a team already with a common idea.

Together, ideas for projects will be sounded out which may be developed and promoted subsequently. The organizers take part in all thinking and working processes and contribute their ideas to language, politics, philosophy, technical devices, and biology concerning biodiversity. After two days and nights at the ideas workshop two or three promising approaches shall be picked for further development.

Pick up our impulses, themes, and provocations:

• Where are they, the insects? What do they want to tell us?
• A boundary experience: How nice can be disgusting?
• The insects are dying out. Some speak of biocide.
• Variety of species: Why don’t we do it by ourselves?
• Biodiversity in the country and in the city
• Politics for insects, together and for everybody

The Universtitäs- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt is member of DiNArDa e.V. and partner in the cooperative project „Drei-dimensionale Digitalisierung von Insekten – Allseitige Bildgebung und photogrammetrische oberflächenrekonstruktion“.
