Securing At-Risk Research Data – DFG initiative for data resilience

2025/11/12

The DFG has launched a new funding initiative to secure at-risk research data held in repositories abroad and keep them available to the German research community over the long term.

With its “Funding initiative to secure endangered data repositories and promote data resilience” the German Research Foundation (DFG) is providing funding from 2025 to 2027 to preserve particularly important datasets whose accessibility for research is currently, or soon could be, at risk. The programme supports the acquisition of storage capacity, the provision of personnel resources for curation and data aggregation, and the integration of data into cross-regional or European infrastructures.

Applications may be submitted continuously until 2027-09-30. Further details are available on the DFG website.

At TU Darmstadt, TUdata provides a proven organisational structure that brings together ULB, HRZ and the user community and is in place to help address this challenge. Do you have suggestions for data whose availability should be protected? Please contact TUdata so we can discuss options together.
