Whether it's the Casino, the Saalbau or the Landtag – many historical sites of Darmstadt's city history have long since disappeared from the modern cityscape. In the Historical Collections of the University and State Library (ULB), maps, plans, drawings and, above all, picture postcards provide an exciting insight into historical Darmstadt. City maps from different eras illustrate the expansion and development of the city over the centuries. A series of images takes back to the year 1888 and shows the architectural face of the royal seat in the imperial era. The event provides an overview of the material in the Historical Collections and shows selected objects in the original.
