Professor Li Lezeng studied history and political science at TU Darmstadt from 1987 to 1991. Professor Li's father, the civil engineer Professor Li Guohao, also completed his doctorate at Darmstadt Technical University in 1940 under Professor Klöppel.

In an exhibition in 2010 about the 30-year partnership between TU Darmstadt and Tongji University, Chinese TU Darmstadt students were presented. Supported by the staff of the Historical Archive and the Darmstadt City Archive, the two researchers were able to identify further students from China using student lists, degree examination files and other sources from the University Archive and the registration cards from the City Archive's registration office.

There was also time to show off some of the University Archive's special treasures and to begin a professional dialogue. Li Lezeng and Zou Xiaolei agreed with the management of the Historcal Archive to continue the contact they had begun. Students from both universities are to be motivated to research the history of Chinese students at TH Darmstadt and the partnership between the universities and to think about joint projects.
