The exhibition of works by Thomas Wellner presents large-format books, sculptures made of wood and iron, assemblages and edited photographs of the University and State Library of Darmstadt.
Books
Artists' books that take you into fantasy worlds. The extraordinary photographs are printed on 300 gram paper. The landscape format and size create an impressive panoramic image.
Browsing through the books is welcome.
Reading
The sculptures made of wood and iron show figures holding a book – lost in it, reading something aloud or simply enjoying a book.
Libraries
- Assemblages
In material collages the artist worked with different materials. He designed the display cases with accessories to match the respective ambience of the rooms. These show libraries, sacred rooms and baroque palace interiors, in which books always play a role. - Photographs
Thomas Wellner edited the photographs from the ULB Darmstadt on the computer in a way that completely new and unusual perspectives were created.
