Open House Day on 09.09.2018

2018/08/02

On Sunday, September 9, 2018, the ULB Darmstadt invites to an “Open House Day” in the city centre as part of the nationwide “Day of Open Monuments”. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. a varied programme on all aspects of the library is shown and offers a peek behind the scenes.

Tours include the underground stocks, the bookbindery, the restoration laboratory and the ULB digitisation centre. Selected treasures from the historical book and map collections are also on display. Lectures will shed light on the library's past and future and present the departments European Documentation Centre, Patent Information Centre and TU Archive in more detail.

A play and creative program guarantees handcrafting, painting and rallying fun for all age groups. For the little ones there is a bouncy castle for knowledge jumps, while teenagers can read and relax in the chill-out zone. The library cinema on the first floor features films about books and the library – from the Inkheart and the Name of the Rose to the Hollywood Librarian. Of course, snacks are also available here.

Antiquarian books and textbooks, that are no longer needed, are sold at a book flea market in return for a voluntary donation.

The complete programme and the registration formula can be found at www.ulb.tu-darmstadt.de/tadot
