Project „990 Faces“ at ULB Stadtmitte

2018/05/09

„990 Faces“ is a longterm project initiated 2010 by the photographer Hans-Jürgen Raabe. Over a period of 10 years he is about to take 30 spontaneous photographs of people on 33 random places on earth.

The result of this formula are 990 single faces merging into a portrait of mankind in the 21st century and focusing on the human, the normal, the authentic – categories which seem to lose meaning in times of unlimited possibilities. 540 portraits have been taken already and are shown at Kunsthalle Darmstadt from 24 April to 8 July 2018 and at selective places all over Darmstadt. One of these places will be ULB Stadtmitte. In this way the photographs will find their way back into the world they came from, into public spaces, among people and their everyday life. On poster walls, displays and in public buildings the photographs act as eye catchers and can catch eyes themselves. They can invite to pause for a moment and give solace in a distorted world dominated by irritating, post-processed pictures.
