Due to technical problems with the climate control unit the temperature in the library building at Stadtmitte is higher than usual. All competent bodies of the university are working hard to change the technical components which partially have to be ordered from abroad. The preliminary works have begun already, however, the library prepares for longer downtimes till mid/end of August.
Since the breakdown an emergency cooling unit is in use which first cools the treasures of the library. The surplus cooling capacity is fed entirely into the reading rooms. Additionally, at workdays all windows including the roof windows are opened according to the weather, at the weekends we react as required.
We deeply regret this break down shortly before the exam period. At the moment we take further measures to provide relief and ventilation for our guests and will inform on a timely basis.
