2017/09/15

200 years ago, on 15 September 1817, the court library of the landgraves of Hesse-Darmstadt opened for the general public for the first time. According to the will of the landlord grand duke Ludwig I, knowledge and learning should be made accessible to an audience as wide as possible.

This jubilee marks the beginning of the festivities for the 450th anniversary of the founding of the library which will take place in October and November.
