Reorganisation of enquiry concept at ULB Stadtmitte

2016/07/26

Starting from August 1st the new “Central Information” will be situated on the ground floor near the loan desk. At August 2nd our new “Research Reading Room” for the provision of our historic collections and old stocks will open on the 2nd floor.

From August 1st general information, advice about our services, and bibliographic support can be obtained directly at the entrance of the library on the ground floor. Also all media published 1916 and later which are not allowed to be taken home for conservative or other reasons can be collected there. Furthermore, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. chromebooks can be borrowed there for in-house use.

The new research reading room offers a retreat for undisturbed working and studying for all researchers and teachers of the TU Darmstadt. Additionally in this reading room all library users can look up non-loan materials published 1915 and earlier and all interlibrary loans to be read within the premises of the library. Furthermore all microforms are provided there and can be printed out.

We are also happy to support our users in their research concerning our historic collections – maps, manuscripts, incunabula, old prints – and our music collection and theatre archive.

In the course of this reorganisation the former Central Information Desk on the 1st floor and all Special Information Desks on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor will be closed permanently at August 1st. Special information is then provided by our librarians in our subject teams who can be contacted in theirs offices via the research reading room.

Information and advice about e-publishing is given in room No. 101 and 102 on the 1st floor.

In the next 12 month the ULB plans to enhance its virtual responsiveness to answer questions in a more direct and detailed manner.
