Digitization projects
Since 2008, the Digitization Center (DIZ) handles the digitization and presentation of the cultural heritage preserved by ULB Darmstatdt.

- Hessian regional newspapers in World War I, in cooperation with HEBIS (information and service union of academic libraries in Hesse)
- Collection of photos by Karl Heil: historical photos of Darmstadt in early 20th century

- Scanning the inheritance of Otto Bartning in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture and Otto-Bartning-AG
- Scanning of more than 300 books of modern crime stories for subsequent character recognition (OCR) and automated linguistic analysis on behalf of the research program “Eigenlogik der Städte”.
- In the same research program, we are helping in scanning and OCR of approx. 1000 newspaper articles (Ruhrnachrichten).
- Scanning and OCR of the Lichtenberg-Jahrbuch and its predecessing journal Photorin for subsequent publication in TUprints.
- Digitization of historical registers and class-books in cooperation with the archive of TU Darmstadt.
- In cooperation with external partners:
- Scanning the correspondence between Friedrich Carl von Savigny (1779-1861) and Johann Heinrich Christian Bang (1774-1851) – on behalf of the Institut für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft der TU Darmstadt and UB Marburg.
- Virtuelle Klosterbibliothek Lorsch (Bibliotheca Laureshamensis digital) – virtual re-collection of the ancient monastic library at Lorsch.
- Facsimiles and Reprints, e.g. of the Elsässer Historienbibel or the so-called “Schatzbehalter” on behalf of Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft (WBG).
- Digitization and presentation of historical volumes of the Wormser Zeitung in cooperation with Stadtarchiv Worms.
